Nearly every 'starting at $X/mo' price you'll see for an all-in-one growth platform (marketing CRM + funnels + SMS + AI) is a partial truth. The base plan almost never includes the usage-based costs that add up to real money. This post is our pricing decoder for 2026.
The three real cost centres
- Platform fee — the sticker price, usually US$97–297/mo. Includes the app, workflows, CRM, unlimited users. This is the number vendors advertise.
- Usage — SMS, voice minutes, email sends, AI tokens. Metered per unit; typically marked up 30–100% over wholesale carrier prices.
- Third-party — Twilio (voice/SMS in some setups), Stripe, dedicated numbers, AI models, backups. Some flow through the vendor's bill; some are direct.
Reading the fine print
The four numbers we always ask for before recommending a platform to a client:
- SMS segment cost, USD & AUD & CAD & NZD, per country of destination.
- Voice minute cost, inbound + outbound, per country.
- AI tokens or 'conversation credits' — cost per 1k tokens or per transcript minute (voice AI).
- Rebilling markup — if the platform lets you resell to sub-account clients, what's the minimum they take?
Ballpark 2026 usage costs (marked-up vendor rates)
- US SMS: ~US$0.015 per segment (~4× Twilio wholesale)
- AU SMS: ~A$0.09 per segment
- NZ SMS: ~NZ$0.11 per segment (with a provider that actually delivers — see the NZ post)
- Voice AI (inbound receptionist): ~US$0.15–0.30 per minute all-in
- Chat AI (conversation credits): typically 10× cheaper than voice by minute-equivalent
The 'unlimited' asterisks
Watch for these three phrases in pricing pages:
- 'Unlimited contacts / users' — always true, meaningless. Storage isn't the constraint; usage is.
- 'Unlimited workflows' — true but the workflow ENGINE has execution limits (typically 100k-1M actions/mo on higher tiers). Every SMS your workflow sends is a workflow action.
- 'Unlimited AI conversations' — nearly always metered by 'conversation credits' or tokens under the hood. Free tier is small; heavy use of Conversation AI can easily add US$200–800/mo.
Where we sit in the market
OmniPipelines doesn't mark up the platform. You pay the vendor directly; we invoice for our implementation, snapshots, workflows, SEO, retainer — the human work. That's why our pricing page publishes fixed bands instead of 'contact us' — the maths is boring and predictable once you separate platform costs from agency costs.
